Search for the Cure

The Beginning: by Lloyd Stone.

After my wife, Peggy, passed away from a re-occurrence of breast cancer, I decided to find a way to help in supporting cancer research. We knew that there had to be a better way to treat cancer than the current state of Chemo which basically kills all cells in order to try to kill the cancer cells. Quite often some cancer cells survive and later spread to other parts of the body.

A Chance Encounter:

A few months ago, I happened to see a documentary on Nova Science of a trial drug that had been created by Dr. Mark Davis of CalTech. The documentary was fascinating and life changing.

Dr. Davis was working on chemical compositions for commercial research purposes when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. They found the Chemo treatments to be very severe and both agreed that there must be a better way. From that point, Dr. Davis changed his focus to research on cancer treatment. He first spent a considerable amount of time researching available literature and then spent the next ten years working on a better treatment.

Cancers start out as tumors. Almost immediately, blood vessels form to feed the tumor. Dr. Davis reasoned that if the blood vessels could be made to disappear that the tumor would be starved! This is the approach that he took and he researched thousands of chemicals to find the right one(s) to cause the blood vessels to stop feeding the tumor.

The Documentary:

The documentary that I saw was regarding the first patient that was ever treated with this new medical chemical formulation. The patient was a man suffering from lung cancer and had a life expectancy of two months. The documentary shows the first IV treatment. There were no major side effects and after two to three treatments, the scans started to show "holes" in the tumors where they were being starved and dying.

The documentary was filmed in 2006. The patient is still alive over two years later!

I felt so compelled by this documentary and the dedication of Dr. Mark Davis, that I decided to search for him on the Internet. I have subsequently made contact with Dr. Davis who is still at CalTech working to get his new chemical formulation, now called IT-101, through the various clinical trials and to the market.

You can follow the progress of Dr. Mark Davis and his new cancer treatment at: http://www.calandopharma.com/. In a later blog I will let you know how to donate directly to his laboratory through a tax deduct able organization if someone wishes. I am in no way connected to CalTech or Dr. Mark Davis but feel strongly about his research and the possible fantastic outcome of his new treatment.

I would like to hear of other's who would like to share their stories and experiences.

Together we can find a cure!

Hello Mr Stone,

I work with Christy and she gave me the link to your "Search for the Cure" blog.

I was truely sory for your tragic loss. I know your wife fought a very courageous battle with this horrific disease. I admire your dedication to continue this research and hopefully your hard work will help others to find a cure.

My mom has stage 4 lung cancer and is currently just doing pain management, as she was told that chemo and radiation would no longer be of benifit to her.

I want my mom to read this blog. She has made peace with her fate, but I pray this reaches others who may benifit.

Keep up the great research!

Kindest Regards,
Debbie Best
